Collins Aerospace is seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to lead our long‑bed machining and large aluminum machining operations in Jamestown, ND. Our advanced cargo handling systems enable efficient movement of cargo across aircraft main and lower decks, incorporating components such as ball transfer units, power drive units, control systems, common turntables, centerline restraints, bumpers, casted panels, door sill assemblies, and rollout stops. Together, these systems ensure fast, reliable loading and unloading of aircraft cargo. In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to a team of support and production employees within Manufacturing Operations.

This position supports our weekend shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM). Initial training will occur on first shift (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM) for approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on experience. This role may be eligible for relocation assistance.

• →Lead daily operations for assigned Machine Shop work centers, providing direct supervision to machinists and machine operators and ensuring safe, efficient, high‑quality production.
• →Provide day‑to‑day working leadership during the weekend split shift, ensuring adherence to safe‑working procedures, good housekeeping practices, and all company policies.
• →Plan, organize, and allocate manpower, equipment, and material resources to maintain smooth flow of priority and routine tasks.
• →Offer technical guidance on machining challenges and collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production Control, Inspection, and Maintenance to resolve production or quality issues.
• →Drive a safety‑first culture through proactive engagement, audits, and continuous shop‑floor presence; ensure all environmental, health, and safety requirements are met.
• →Maintain training and cross‑training matrices, address skill gaps, and ensure employees remain current on required processes.
• →Lead talent management activities including coaching, mentoring, resolving employee concerns, conducting performance reviews, and supporting hiring decisions.
• →Coordinate overtime and vacation planning to ensure adequate shift coverage.
• →Support labor, tooling, and material budgets and support company inventory objectives.
• →Promote the RTX People Philosophy and foster open, effective communication across teams and leadership.
• →Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including MFA, QCPC, ACE activities, process maturity, 5S, and driver‑measure board participation.
• →Review production issues, QNs, and PDS sheets, ensuring timely corrective action and identifying opportunities for process or equipment improvement.
• →Support machine reliability by partnering with Maintenance to drive rapid closure of issues and identify opportunities for PM, TPM, and long‑term equipment health.
• →Investigate and evaluate production improvement ideas, including equipment upgrades or new production methods.
• →Perform other duties as assigned.
