In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Senior Contract Administrator
The Senior Contracts Administrator is responsible for managing the entire contractual process, including tendering, bid analysis, and awarding contracts, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. This role involves reviewing and negotiating contractual documents, analyzing bids from vendors and contractors, providing recommendations for awarding contracts, and ensuring adherence to the Government of Guyana's Local Content Act and guidelines. The position requires strong analytical, negotiation, and legal skills, along with a solid understanding of local content requirements and experience in the mining sector is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the tendering process, including issuing invitations to bid, evaluating submissions, and ensuring transparency and fairness
- Analyze bids for compliance, value, and risk, providing detailed assessments and recommendations
- Prepare and present recommendations for contract awards based on evaluation outcomes
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to protect company interests, ensuring clarity and enforceability
- Ensure all contractual activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, including the Government of Guyana Local Content Act and guidelines
- Collaborate with legal, financial, and technical teams to address issues and mitigate risks
- Maintain comprehensive records of tenders, bids, evaluations, and contract documents
- Monitor contractual obligations, deadlines, and compliance requirements
- Provide guidance and training to staff on procurement procedures and local content compliance
- Stay updated on relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines impacting contract management and local content requirements
Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Public Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in contract administration, procurement, or bid management
- Strong understanding of the Government of Guyana Local Content Act, procurement laws, and regulations
- Experience in bid evaluation, recommendation, and contract award processes
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple complex projects
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in industries such as mining, construction, oil and gas, or infrastructure development
- Certification such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO)
