Supervises and directs day-to-day activities of OSP personnel in the operation and maintenance of telco plant and equipment. Trains OSP staff in preventive maintenance, trouble resolution, Service order activity, and emergency operations. Performs frequent field checks to ensure that crews adhere to established standards and safety requirements. This position will recommend system improvements and upgrades as needed.
This position plays a key role in delivering consistent customer experience by holding the field to high expectations — from the fiber drop to final light levels — while supporting efficient, scalable operations.
Responsibilities

- →Lead day‑to‑day oversight of all installation and maintenance partners supporting all‑fiber deployments and service assurance.
- →Ensure contractors consistently meet installation quality, safety, productivity, and customer experience standards.
- →Coordinate work assignments, schedules, and service priorities across new installs, trouble calls, and plant maintenance.
- →Serve as an escalation point for contractor performance, workmanship issues, safety incidents, and customer concerns.
Fiber Installation & Maintenance Oversight
- →Oversee fiber drop installations, inside wiring, ONT placement, splicing, testing, and turn‑up activities.
- →Ensure adherence to company standards for:
- →Fiber placement (aerial & underground)
- →Splicing, testing, and light‑level acceptance
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- →Conduct regular job site audits and inspections for workmanship, safety compliance, and customer experience.
- →Enforce OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies, including ladder use, traffic control, and aerial/underground work practices.
- →Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce repeat work, truck rolls, and safety incidents.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- →Partner with internal teams including Network Engineering, Construction, Customer Experience, Network Operations Center, and Sales Channels.
- →Support onboarding, training, and qualification of new technicians.
- →Provide regular reporting and insights on field performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Requirements
~1 min read- 5+ years of experience in fiber network operations, installation, maintenance, or OSP construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing third‑party fiber contractors in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of FTTH architectures, including aerial and underground plant.
- Working knowledge of fiber testing, splicing standards, and acceptance criteria.
- Proven ability to lead field teams, enforce standards, and resolve issues independently.
- Prior experience in a fiber‑only ISP or municipal FTTH environment.
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance workflows for all‑fiber networks.
- Familiarity with field workforce supervision tools, QC platforms, or ticketing systems.
- FOA certification or equivalent fiber training (or willingness to obtain).
