The Facilities Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, installations, moves, and other facility-related work across Granger Medical Clinic locations. This position responds to work orders, troubleshoots facility issues, assists with projects and moves, and helps maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities for patients, providers, and employees.
The Facilities Technician travels between Granger locations throughout the workday and is expected to work independently once appropriately trained. This position works closely with the Facilities Manager, other Facilities staff, clinic teams, vendors, and contractors to complete assigned work while minimizing disruption to patient care and clinic operations.
General Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

- Mechanical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn new skills, building systems, tools, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, use good judgment, and work independently after appropriate training.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and respond appropriately to changing facility and clinic needs.
- Strong communication, organization, time management, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
- Comfortable using computers and mobile devices to manage work orders, email, documentation, and other job-related applications.
- Basic knowledge or experience in one or more building maintenance areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, mechanical systems, or general repairs preferred.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Performs routine preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and installations across Granger Medical Clinic locations.
- Responds to assigned facility work orders, evaluates reported issues, determines appropriate next steps, completes repairs within individual knowledge and ability, and communicates more complex or unresolved issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Performs general building maintenance involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems, including tasks such as drywall patching, touch-up painting, minor finish work, unclogging drains and toilets, replacing plumbing fixtures, lighting repairs, and other general maintenance.
- Uses and operates hand tools, power tools, ladders, and electrical and mechanical equipment safely and appropriately.
- Completes assigned preventive maintenance activities and inspections and reports equipment deficiencies, recurring issues, needed repairs, and potential replacement needs.
- Uses the Facilities CMMS to receive, update, document, and complete assigned work orders, including work performed, materials used, equipment condition, and relevant notes.
- Assists with office and furniture moves, furniture assembly, room setup, equipment and material relocation, installations, minor demolition, disposal of materials, deliveries, and other facility projects as assigned.
- Coordinates with clinic staff regarding access, work being performed, operational impacts, and completion of assigned work.
- Assists vendors and contractors with facility access, locating equipment or building systems, and other onsite needs as directed by the Facilities Manager or Senior Manager of Facilities & Projects.
- Helps maintain facility exteriors, parking areas, sidewalks, entrances, and other areas in a clean and safe condition, including clearing snow or applying ice melt when necessary to maintain safe patient and employee access.
- Monitors tools, equipment, maintenance supplies, and commonly used parts and communicates inventory or replacement needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Travels between Granger Medical Clinic locations throughout the workday using company vehicles and operates vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Participates in scheduled early morning, evening, or weekend work when necessary for moves, projects, maintenance, or other work that cannot reasonably be completed during clinic hours.
- Follows applicable safety practices, infection prevention requirements, clinic protocols, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment while performing facility work.
- Maintains professional communication and conduct while working in active medical clinic environments and takes appropriate precautions to minimize disruption to patients and clinic operations.
- Performs other Facilities-related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, construction, skilled trade, or related experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles required.
- Trade education, certifications, licenses, or specialized experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, or another applicable building trade are a plus.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, equipment, furniture, and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and perform physical maintenance work throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely use ladders, hand and power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Work is performed in medical clinics, offices, mechanical and utility areas, and indoor and outdoor environments.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when necessary.
- Some scheduled work before or after normal clinic hours and occasional weekend work may be required to accommodate projects, moves, maintenance, or clinic operations.
