Medical Records Clerk - Part Time/Full Time

Granger Medical Clinic is looking for a Medical Records Clerk at our West Valley City/Fairborne clinic to help ensure patient health information is accurate, complete, secure, and available when it's needed. This position requires Spanish speaking and is available for either part time or full time schedules.

This role supports the day-to-day management of electronic medical records, including document processing, record requests, electronic work queues, and patient inquiries. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across multiple systems, can manage competing priorities, and understands that accuracy and confidentiality are essential when working with patient information.

You'll join a collaborative team focused on providing timely, accurate, and professional support to patients, providers, clinics, and external partners.

Pay Range: $18–$20/hour

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, flexible

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to perform accurate, repetitive work.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple electronic queues and deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems and workflows.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, review, classify, and index medical documents into patient charts using eClinicalWorks (eCW) and integrated document management/OCR systems.
  • Monitor and process assigned electronic work queues, incoming faxes, emails, and other medical record workflows.
  • Verify patient information and document placement to ensure records are indexed to the correct patient and location within the medical record.
  • Review records and documents for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate routing.
  • Fulfill requests for medical records in accordance with HIPAA, applicable requirements, and Granger Medical Clinic policies.
  • Respond to patient questions and medical record inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and excellent customer service.
  • Scan, upload, file, and track records and documentation as needed.
  • Identify discrepancies, duplicate or misfiled information, and other record concerns and take appropriate steps to resolve or escalate them.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinic staff, patients, and external organizations to obtain records and resolve documentation issues.
  • Maintain appropriate productivity and accuracy while managing multiple queues and priorities.
  • Protect the confidentiality, privacy, security, and integrity of patient health information.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or a comparable electronic health record system preferred.
  • Previous medical records, health information management, healthcare administrative, or related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Primarily sedentary work with extended periods of computer use.
  • Frequent repetitive hand and wrist movement associated with computer and office equipment use.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Work is performed in an indoor, climate-controlled office environment.
