Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

This candidate would flex to different newscasts through the week, covering so fellow producers can build streaming content and special projects. This position is Sunday through Thursday (an atypical work week that gives you a different rhythm than the standard Monday to Friday grind). - Own breaking news: Act with urgency, send push alerts, launch live streams, update WMTV15News.com as news breaks
- Drive the News Now Desk: Handle live feeds, user-generated content, and real-time updates across TV, web, apps, and social
- Write for every platform: Conversational scripts for TV, sharp AP Style copy for digital, aligned to WMTV brand pillars
- Associate producer: Write content and VOSOTs from photographer video and feeds when not in the producer chair
- Partner with leadership: Report to and work with News Director and Executive Producer to execute digital-first strategy
Requirements

- Strong news judgment: You know what matters to Madison and go beyond the press release
- Urgency and composure: Thrive under deadline, stay calm when breaking news flips the script
- Desire to win: Positive attitude, reflect on work and apply feedback
- Foundation: College degree in journalism preferred, 1+ years newsroom or digital producing preferred, but we will train the right person
- Time management: Work quickly with accuracy, multitask and prioritize
