As the Senior Manager, PMO, you will be responsible for overseeing larger, more complex projects and programs, driving strategic initiatives across the organization, and managing a team of project managers. The Senior Manager, PMO is also responsible for optimizing project management processes, aligning projects with business goals, and ensuring high-level governance and reporting.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Lead and manage the Project Management Office, providing direction, support, and oversight to ensure the successful execution of projects and programs.
- →Establish and maintain project management processes, methodologies, and standards, ensuring consistency and best practices across all projects.
- →Collaborate with senior leadership to align project goals with organizational strategy and priorities.
- →Drive the development of the PMO’s long-term strategy, aligning it with the organization’s objectives and vision.
- →Oversee the project portfolio to ensure that projects are prioritized, executed, and delivered according to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- →Regularly report on the status of key projects to executive leadership, highlighting risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
- →Conduct project audits and assessments to ensure adherence to project management methodologies and organizational standards.
- →Continuously assess and improve project management processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
- →Develop and implement standardized project management tools, templates, and frameworks to ensure consistency and improve project outcomes.
- →Monitor and report on resource utilization, identifying potential gaps or inefficiencies.
- →Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, providing guidance and support to project teams to mitigate and resolve them.
- →Develop risk management plans and contingency strategies to ensure projects stay on track even in the face of challenges.
- →Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, business leaders, and external partners, to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- →Ensure clear communication and reporting to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates on progress, risks, and issues.
- →Serve as a key point of contact for all project-related inquiries, managing expectations and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
- →Manage and develop a team of program managers, providing coaching, mentorship, and training to build a high-performing program management team.
- →Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve program management competencies across the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
- Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
- Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale, complex projects across various domains.
- Experience with project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches.
- Eight (8)+ years of experience in project management
- Four (4)+ years in a leadership or managerial role within a PMO.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

- Manage the organization’s project portfolio, ensuring that projects are strategically prioritized, properly resourced & aligned with business needs
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership on project health, risks, and progress.
- Act as the escalation point for critical project issues, leading the resolution of complex problems and guiding project managers in risk management practices
- Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and providing regular performance updates

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
- Expertise in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Asana, Smartsheet, etc.).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage with executives, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to manage complex project issues and risks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on quality, timelines, and budget.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align projects to organizational objectives and drive results.
Receives objective based assignments and determines resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect section or multiple disciplines. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques. Executes financials, business planning, organizational priorities and workforce.
- While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
- This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
- This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
- The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
- This role may involve some travel and work hours outside of standard office hours
