Based out of our Garden Grove headquarters, the Powertrain Test Engineer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of the Powertrain test systems. You will develop in-house test benches for our electric drive unit and components to be used for current product validation, new product development, and failure reproduction. Ideal candidates will be able to create and integrate automation solutions for testing and data acquisition.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Design and deploy electromechanical test benches for electric drive units and its components through software and hands-on approaches.
- →Develop and maintain test standards, design and develop test equipment, or procuring and handling purchased test capital equipment to support test readiness.
- →Leverage data analysis and existing tools to reproduce and characterize failures.
- →Design and architect electric motor and electric drive unit dynamometers and HIL systems.
- →Support validation of automated test systems.
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on hardware validation and integration testing
- Experience working with NI hardware (PXIe-RT, cRIO, and cDAQ) and coding with real-time and FPGA modules
- Ability to use and write drivers for NI-XNET (CAN and LIN) and NI-VISA Serial (RS232, RS485) and TCP/IP (Modbus, SCPI, FTP and TCP/IP)
- Experience in test data analysis and setting up data processing streams in Matlab, Python, or similar programming.
- Familiarity with electronics test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscope, power analyzers, data acquisition and measurement sensors.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software.
Nice to Have
~3 min read- NI LabVIEW certification: CLD minimum. CLA preferred.
- 5+ years experience in automotive Powertrain and/or electric motor development and validation.
- Solid understanding of product development, DFMEA, DVP&R, and product requirements.
