Head-Royce School is seeking a part-time Lower School Spanish teacher (.8 FTE) to join our team, beginning in August 2026. We seek teachers who are not only excited by the content they teach, but who are also actively engaged in evolving their classroom pedagogy. The Lower School Spanish teacher will be responsible for teaching introductory Spanish in grades kindergarten through 5th grade

Beyond the classroom, teachers are expected to take on additional duties and to participate in the life of the community.
 
We seek applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in culturally responsive teaching, a deep understanding of adolescents, and a genuine fondness for working with all students at this specific age level.
  • Experience teaching Spanish with appropriate age groups.
  • Empathetic and clear communicator with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design as well as varied pedagogical approaches including UbD and UDL. In addition, candidates should be familiar with the ACTFL “World-Readiness Standards for Language Learning.
  • Strong speaking, writing, planning, and organizational skills.
  •  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Language and/or Literature or equivalent area of study
  • Fluent or Native Spanish speaker
  • 2 years minimum teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated desire to teach at the high school level.
  • Proven ability to teach a variety of Spanish classes at the high school level.
  • Ability to provide proof of Fingerprint, SB848 and TB clearance.
  • Advanced degrees/certification are desirable in Spanish or Spanish education.
