Quality Inspector

VPT, Inc, a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space, and industrial applications, is seeking a full-time Quality Inspector, for their office in Blacksburg, VA.

This position in the Quality Department will report to the Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Inspector is responsible for the in-line inspection of mission-critical electronic subassemblies, complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and final completed power conversion products. This role ensures full compliance with rigorous space and military workmanship standards and also supports additional tasks within the Quality Control area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform visual, microscopic, and dimensional inspections of work-in-progress (WIP) electronic subassemblies and modules by evaluating solder joints, component placement, wire routing, and conformal coating/encapsulation against internal, IPC-A-610 Class 3, and J-STD-001 Space Class 3 requirements.
• Execute final mechanical and visual inspections on completed product assemblies against blueprint and internal standard operating procedural requirements.
• Support monthly ESD Ground Line Equipment verification efforts across workstations to maintain a static-safe manufacturing facility.
• Support monthly Preventive Maintenance (PM) program efforts on basic production and quality equipment to ensure proper operational calibration and safety.
• Accurately document inspection findings and non-conformances.
• Work with Quality, Production, and Engineering personnel to resolve product inspection non-conformances.
• Support additional Quality Assurance and Quality Control initiatives as necessary.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $18.50 to $22.50 per hour.

Actual salary will vary depending on location, education and experience. The range listed is just one factor of the VPT, Inc., total compensation package. The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum 2 years of electronic inspection experience in AS9100 or ISO9001 or similar environment
• Experience working within IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements; certifications in either is highly preferred
• Ability to perform high-precision visual inspection under microscopes for extended periods
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and production work instructions
• Familiarity with standard quality tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters, indicators, gauges, etc.)
• High attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• US Person is required

Education:

• Associates degree or applicable Technical Program Certificate. Degree and/or certifications may be waived in lieu of experience.
