The Transportation Coordinator is responsible to manage the daily movements of goods, schedules shipments, ensure that products arrive safely and on time for the customers, overseeing drivers to fulfill procedures established for efficiently deliveries or pick up of products, monitor driving behavior involves proactive and corrective measures as coaching, training, clear policies, and ongoing management to ensure that drivers meet company standards and DOT regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage & optimize backhauls, sourcing new vendors, maximizing fleet utilization and increasing company revenue
  • Coordinate pick-up and delivery on time with carriers/ brokers
  • Monitor transit status in real time to prevent delays and anticipate shipping issues
  • Ensure that drivers complete all required documentation, such as delivery logs, inspection reports, and incident reports, accurately and timely
  • Supervise fleet maintenance, schedule PMs and repair of vehicles to ensure vehicles comply with safety regulations
  • Enforce HOS Compliance, monitor ELD, duty status, to be in compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, such as control transportation expenses and budget
  • Conduct regular training sessions on best practices, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Optimize delivery routes to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective transportation.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and safety inspections
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on transportation operations and issues.
  • Act as communication liaison with the transportation department, carrier companies and El Rancho drivers
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes along with last minute schedule changes.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in logistics, transportation dispatch or fleet coordinator or in a similar logistics role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with conflict resolution.
  • Ability to enforce policies while maintaining a constructive and supportive approach
  • Deep understanding of DOT, FMCSA, HOS rules regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially in Excel), ELD telematics systems
  • Adapts to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities and works with a variety of situations, individuals, groups, and varying customer needs.
  • Aligns the direction, products, services, and performance of a business line with the rest of the organization.
  • Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; provides excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Uses tools, machines, and/or vehicles to complete the assigned work.
  • Defining tasks and milestones to achieve objectives, while ensuring the optimal use of resources to achieve those objectives.
  • Resolve difficult or complicated challenges.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish

  • The work environment is typical of a distribution center.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use the hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule that supports a 24-hour production facility.
  • Successful performance requires vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level ranges from quiet to loud.
  • Exposure to extreme temperature changes, moisture, noise, odors, and moving equipment.
