Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Towson University Hillel as the Engagement Associate. You will build one-on-one relationships with students, facilitate fantastic programs around campus, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life and community. You will be responsible for expanding our ability to reach students where they are, supporting their engagement, and cultivating experiences that enrich their lives.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional—especially someone with experience in Jewish summer camps, experiential education, or youth groups—who is excited to work directly with students, build community through shared experiences, and reach students who may not see themselves in traditional Hillel spaces. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, always knows how to make room at the table for a new face, and understands that engagement in Jewish life looks different for everyone.

  • Support the planning and execution of Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, and social programming.
  • Serve as an experiential Jewish educator nurturing the Jewish growth of others through conversations and actions.

  • A passion for meeting new people, learning their stories, and helping college students navigate their Jewish journeys.
  • Comfort embracing your own Jewish identity—or an excitement to actively figure that out and grow alongside our students.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams. Highly flexible and comfortable working the non-traditional hours needed to support campus life, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Energy, a healthy sense of humor, maturity, and a welcoming presence.
  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $45,000 - $49,000. This position is available as a 10-month, 11-month,or 12-month role at a pro-rated salary.

Towson University is the fastest growing university in Maryland, and our Jewish population of ~1,700 Jewish students (~10% of the student population) reflects that growth. We are well-situated within the greater Jewish community of Baltimore, which is tight-knit, well-resourced, and very welcoming. Our suburban campus is located eight miles north of Baltimore, and about an hour drive from Washington, DC.

In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at nearly 1,000 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.

Hillel is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an accepting and inclusive environment for all.
