About the Role

This role reports to the Manager of Facilities. The HVAC Facilities Technician provides support to the Operations, Engineering & Maintenance Departments .  The HVAC Facilities Technician will install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, boilers, chillers and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service  The HVAC Facilities Tech will monitor and proactively correct out of spec conditions in the warehouse and labs.  The HVAC Facilities Tech works with general supervision and will interact with a supervisor several times per week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. The HVAC Facilities Technician will also be willing to do other functions as assigned by his/her manager.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC equipment, including AHUs, RTUs, condensers, exhaust fans, VAV boxes, and ductwork.

  • Replace or clean HEPA filters, pre-filters, belts, motors, sensors, and dampers to maintain system efficiency and cleanroom compliance.

  • Perform emergency maintenance to ensure minimal disruption to Operations

  • Ensure HVAC systems maintain proper temperature, relative humidity (RH), and differential pressure across ISO-classified spaces (ISO 7 and 8).

  • Respond to out-of-spec alarms and environmental alerts in coordination with QA, Validation, and Facilities teams.

  • Complete detailed maintenance logs, service reports, and change records to support audit readiness and cGMP documentation requirements

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols during HVAC servicing activities.

  • Assist in HVAC requalification activities, airflow visualization (smoke studies), and pressure balancing in cleanrooms.

  • Support environmental monitoring investigations by identifying and resolving HVAC-related root causes.

  • Coordination & Communication

  • Work with facility engineers, external contractors, and BMS/EMS technicians to coordinate system shutdowns, repairs, and upgrades.

  • Provide feedback on system performance and recommend upgrades or efficiency improvements as needed.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents.

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.

  • Must be able to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, either in conjunction with his or her regular responsibilities or those assigned in other areas as directed.

  • Use of business computer systems and applications—specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project Management

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with machinery without supervision or direction.

  • Ability to document predictive/preventive maintenance charts, technical data and other data; interpret data and provide relevant input for process improvement.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English (Bilingual in Spanish preferred)

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach overhead with arms and hands and climb ladders; must be able to climb stairs up to three flights and not be afraid of heights utilizing scissor or bucket lifts.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization.

  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives.

  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to all Hims Inc. policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those related to attendance and scheduling requirements, honesty and integrity, confidentiality, safety, and conflicts of interest.

  • 3+ years of industry 5+ years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or field with related skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and operate advance technical equipment in a related industry.

  • Have knowledge of and experience with HVAC systems, including Heating and Air Conditioning, Air Flow specifications, Boilers, and Chillers.

  • Have knowledge of and experience with CMMS systems

  • Have verifiable HVAC education and/or certification.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification through an accredited institution in at least one of the additional following areas: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, PLC systems. 

  • 5+ years previous maintenance experience in a commercial facility or with equipment mentioned above. 

  • 5+ years of electrical knowledge and electronic principles

  • Advanced degree/training in engineering, maintenance, or other related field

  • Advanced formal training in lean or six sigma

This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.
