Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking a full-time Sociology instructor.  This position will report to the Chair of the Humanities, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, and Human Services Department in the School of Arts and Sciences.

The instructor hired will be responsible, in part, for the following duties.

  • Developing and implementing plans to improve student success
  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students
  • Providing academic advisement to students
  • Teaching at various campus locations, as needed
  • Serving on committees, which help the college, faculty, staff, and students

To be considered for the position, an applicant must have either a Master’s degree in Sociology or a Master’s degree in another field of study and no fewer than 18 hours in Graduate-level (Master’s, Ph.D.) Sociology classes.  Because HGTC has three main campuses and other remote-teaching locations, an applicant must be willing to travel, if needed, to different locations.
