The Engineering Technician provides technical support for product development, engineering, and research initiatives through hands-on testing, laboratory activities, technical documentation, sample preparation, and drafting support. Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, this role assists in planning and executing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining test records, and supporting the development of technical drawings and documentation.
This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to continuous improvement, product innovation, and process development efforts.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Support engineering, product development, and research activities through hands-on laboratory testing, experimental setup, data collection, and documentation.
- →Prepare and conduct tests related to product performance, material evaluation, thermal analysis, lifecycle testing, and other engineering validation activities.
- →Collect, organize, and document test results, providing accurate records and reports of findings.
- →Prepare metallurgical and material samples for evaluation and analysis when required.
- →Maintain laboratory equipment, testing tools, and work areas, including inventory management and ordering supplies.
- →Create and revise technical drawings, models, and related documentation using CAD software.
- →Enter and maintain product and engineering-related information within business systems.
- →Research and source testing equipment, materials, and external services needed to support engineering projects.
- →Process purchasing requests and coordinate procurement activities as needed.
- →Generate technical reports and presentations summarizing project results and recommendations.
- →Participate in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- →Perform additional duties and technical assignments as required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and collaborative problem-solving.
- Support engineering projects through accurate testing, reporting, and documentation.
- Stay informed on emerging manufacturing technologies, testing methods, and industry best practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Follow established quality, safety, and operational procedures.
- Contribute positively to team objectives and project milestones.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on technical experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be functional in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Draft sight a plus.
- Functional in LabVIEW and Arduino programming a plus.
- Ability to collect data and infer conclusions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Engr. Drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform intermediate to high level electrical and thermal testing and write reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates at all levels.
- Degree in Mechanical, Applied Engr., or Manufacturing disciplines.
- College accreditation/certificate or professional certification.
- Lean Mfg. or Six Sigma certifications.
The employee may be required to:
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and testing devices.
- Occasionally stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders.
- Regularly communicate with team members and stakeholders.
- Frequently view detailed information on computer screens, instruments, and technical documents.
- Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary for testing and assembly activities.
The work environment may include laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, and production settings. Employees may work near moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and other industrial conditions.
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, including safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, and other safety equipment when working in designated areas.
