  • Supporting the protection of Huawei’s valuable technical inventions in Europe by developing and implementing patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation strategies.

  • Supporting Huawei’s efforts in licensing its patents, in particular its standard-essential patents (SEPs), by identifying potential licensees, drafting license agreements, and conducting licensing negotiations.

  • Supporting Huawei’s intellectual property litigation campaigns in Europe, specifically before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), German Courts, and the UK Courts; coordination with parallel litigation campaigns, e.g., in China; hand-in-hand cooperation with Huawei’s in-house engineers and with Huawei’s outside litigation counsels and law firms.

  • Representing Huawei’s interests and standpoints vis-à-vis other stakeholders, e.g., in the context of international or regional conferences or workshops.

  • Helping to build up a strong patent portfolio by reviewing and evaluating patent applications, by selecting granted patents for litigation, and by supporting to defend Huawei’s patents against nullity attacks.

  • Providing legal and IP support for various industrial activities in Europe, including standard setting organizations, open-source associations, etc.

  • Law degree (1st/2nd State Examination, Diploma, Master), at best with a focus on European IP law.

  • Admission as an Attorney-at-Law (Rechtsanwalt) in an EU member state or UK.

  • Solid technical and commercial interest and understanding, specifically regarding information, communication and telecommunication technologies and related patents.

  • At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or as an in-house legal counsel, both in Europe.

  • At best, experience in multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and licensing projects, specifically regarding standard essential patents (SEPs) and FRAND related matters.

  • English C1 and German C1 level in addition; excellent communication skills both in writing and speaking as well as ability to present legal, commercial and technical arguments in a convincing manner.

  • Readiness to travel internationally from time to time; intercultural understanding.

  • Open-minded with the ability to collaborate and being keen to be challenged in a fast-paced commercial environment within a multinational team.

  • Collaborative and responsible team-player with a goal-oriented, forward mentality.
