Free People is seeking a Social Media Associate with 2-3+ years of experience on a social media team developing social-first content from initial concept through execution. Reporting into the social team, this role owns a core channel content calendar, develops and produces original video concepts, and partners with creators and internal teams to deliver work that is culturally relevant and true to the brand.

The ideal candidate pairs strong creative instincts with an analytical mindset. They understand how culture moves online, can translate that understanding into content strategy, and are equally effective in a planning meeting, on set, or in front of the camera. This role offers meaningful ownership and the opportunity to shape how Free People show up across social.

This role is based in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Own the planning, development, and execution of a core channel content calendar, ensuring a consistent and strategic cadence of content
  • Manage campaign content in partnership with the broader social team, ensuring cross-functional stakeholders receive the assets and support they need on schedule
  • Write clear, compelling copy that reflects the Free People brand voice across all touchpoints
  • Develop social-first content plans in advance of shoots, maximizing the value of limited time on set to capture engaging, entertaining content
  • Lead creative ideation for social initiatives and present new concepts to the team
  • Oversee the production of social video concepts from initial idea through final edit
  • Create original content independently, including appearing on camera when the concept calls for it
  • Provide on-site content coverage for travel and brand events
  • Develop strategic creative briefs that guide creators in producing social-first content aligned with campaign goals
  • Collaborate with partnerships, co-op, and studio teams to bring social video concepts to life
  • Identify and forecast emerging trends, applying both cultural awareness and analytical rigor to inform social strategy
  • Measure and report on content performance, translating insights into clear recommendations that shape future creative

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of brand/agency experience involving hands-on social media experience, with a demonstrated track record of concepting and producing social-first projects across various platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Media Production, or a related field
  • Experience in the fashion, wellness, or lifestyle space is a plus
  • Proven ability to plan content strategically ahead of production and execute efficiently on set
  • Experience developing creator briefs and managing collaborations with creators, partners, and production teams
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and a strong understanding of brand voice
  • Advanced video editing skills and a sharp eye for pacing, storytelling, and polish
  • Working knowledge of graphic design fundamentals
  • Proficiency with social media scheduling, analytics, and project management tools
  • Confidence on camera and the interpersonal skills to engage others in content creation
  • A nuanced understanding of social strategy, informed by both cultural fluency and data-driven insight
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability for occasional travel and event coverage
