- →Set the strategic vision, annual priorities, resource plans, and performance targets for Power Purchasing, Transmission growth-related procurement, and Insurance.
- →Serve as an executive advisor on procurement strategy, supplier-market dynamics, commercial risk, insurance considerations, and sourcing decisions that materially affect business outcomes.
- →Align purchasing and insurance strategies with business objectives, capital plans, governance standards, and long-term enterprise value creation.
Purchasing & Supplier Strategy:
- →Oversee sourcing, negotiations, award recommendations, and contract strategies for complex equipment, materials, works, and services supporting renewable generation, BESS, transmission growth, construction, O&M, and other critical needs.
- →Build strategic supplier relationships with OEMs, contractors, service providers, and market participants to secure competitive pricing, quality, delivery certainty, contractual protection, and innovation.
- →Anticipate and manage supply-chain disruptions, market volatility, tariffs, trade restrictions, domestic-content requirements, technology shifts, and supplier-performance risks.
- →Promote procurement synergies through demand aggregation, framework agreements, standardized commercial approaches, and coordination with global purchasing teams.
Insurance & Risk Financing:
- →Provide executive oversight for Avangrid’s insurance strategy, risk financing, renewals, market submissions, coverage solutions, insurance procurement, and claims strategy.
- →Ensure insurance considerations are integrated early into major investment, capital project, operational, contractual, lending, regulatory, and corporate decisions.
- →Partner with Iberdrola Global Risk and Insurance, brokers, carriers, legal counsel, operating companies, and business leaders to identify, quantify, mitigate, transfer, and finance material insurable risks.
Operational Excellence & Governance:
- →Champion continuous improvement, procurement innovation, digital enablement, and data-driven decision-making to improve value delivery and organizational effectiveness.
- →Establish executive-level performance reporting, cost tracking, supplier performance metrics, insurance budget oversight, claims metrics, and governance routines to monitor value delivery and support informed decision-making.
- →Ensure compliance with purchasing and insurance policies, procedures, delegated authorities, governance expectations, internal controls, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Team Development:
- →Lead, develop a high-performing organization of senior leaders, procurement and insurance professionals supporting complex business, capital, and risk priorities.
- →Set strategic goals, reinforce performance expectations, provide executive coaching, and foster a culture of accountability, commercial discipline, collaboration, and excellence. Foster a customer-service orientation within the team.
- →Build trusted relationships across business units, global counterparts, legal, finance, operations, project teams, insurance partners, and operating companies to promote integrated decision-making and enterprise knowledge sharing.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, commercial operations, insurance, risk financing, or related executive roles.
- Proven success leading complex organizations, major capital sourcing strategies, high-value negotiations, enterprise supplier or insurance-market relationships, and cross-functional initiatives in a large matrixed environment.
- Strong executive communication, commercial judgment, financial acumen, negotiation skills, customer orientation, and ability to influence senior stakeholders in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
- Knowledge of procurement governance, contract administration, supplier risk management, insurance and risk financing practices, claims oversight, compliance requirements, market intelligence, and internal controls.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Master’s degree, MBA, or relevant professional designation.
- Experience in the energy, utility, infrastructure, renewable generation, construction, or capital-project environment.
- Professional certifications such as C.P.M., C.P.S.M., risk management, insurance, or equivalent credentials.
- Bilingual English/Spanish capability or experience working with global teams.
