Overview
The Prospect Development and Analytics Officer strengthens IINE’s fundraising efforts by leading the systems, research, and analytical practices that build a consistent, data-informed pipeline of qualified individual, corporate, and foundation prospects. This role oversees prospect identification, research, qualification, portfolio strategy, moves management, and performance analytics to help frontline fundraisers cultivate new relationships and grow philanthropic revenue.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Principal and Major Gifts, Senior Director of Giving and Engagement, Director of Corporate Engagement, Capital Campaign Manager, Major Gift Officers and Grants Manager, the Prospect Development and Analytics Officer translates prospect intelligence and fundraising data into actionable strategy. The role establishes consistent prospect development practices, supports leadership decision-making, and ensures donor and prospect activity is accurately tracked and meaningfully analyzed in Salesforce.

Responsibilities
Prospect Identification and Research
- Conduct proactive research to identify high-potential individual, corporate, foundation, and community prospects aligned with IINE’s mission and fundraising priorities.
- Use public records, philanthropy databases, wealth screening results, relationship mapping, event participation, volunteer engagement, and online sources to surface new opportunities.
- Monitor Boston-area and regional philanthropic trends, immigrant- and refugee-serving nonprofit funders, community leaders, and prospective donor networks.
- Prepare concise, actionable prospect profiles, meeting briefs, and relationship summaries for Advancement staff, executive leadership, and volunteer leaders.
Qualification and Pipeline Development
- Develop and maintain a qualification process that evaluates prospect capacity, inclination, affinity, access points, giving history, and connection to IINE.
- Recommend prospect assignment, disqualification, reassignment, or next-step actions based on research findings and portfolio strategy.
- Build and maintain a steady pool of qualified prospects for Major Gift Officers, campaign work, annual giving upgrades, sponsorship, and special initiatives.
- Support discovery strategies connected to events, volunteer engagement, board referrals, community partnerships, and mission-based programming.
Portfolio Management and Fundraising Support
- Partner with portfolio owners to evaluate portfolio composition, identify gaps, and recommend additions or removals to improve fundraiser productivity.
- Support moves management by tracking prospect stage, next step, assignment, capacity rating, research status, and engagement history.
- Develop prospect lists for campaigns, major gifts, sponsorship, planned giving, institutional funding, and targeted cultivation events.
- Create leadership-ready briefing materials for donor meetings, campaign conversations, board cultivation, and high-priority solicitations.
Prospect Development Systems and Analytics
- Own the integrity and strategic use of prospect, portfolio, pipeline, and moves management data in Salesforce, in close partnership with each portfolio owner.
- In collaboration with the Development Coordinator, design and maintain recurring dashboards and reports that track prospect identification and qualification, portfolio health, pipeline value and velocity, fundraiser activity, conversion rates, event-generated leads, and volunteer-to-donor opportunities.
- In collaboration with the Development Coordinator, establish standard prospect development fields, capacity and affinity ratings, coding practices, data definitions, research documentation, and quality-control procedures to support consistent reporting and AI-enabled retrieval.
- Analyze donor acquisition, retention, upgrade, reactivation, and engagement patterns; identify lapsed or under-engaged assigned donors; and translate findings into clear recommendations for fundraising strategy and resource allocation.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Collaborate with Communications, Programs, Volunteer Coordination, and site-based staff to identify relationship leads and mission-aligned engagement opportunities.
- Support a culture of philanthropy by helping staff recognize appropriate prospect identification opportunities while respecting confidentiality and client consent standards.
- Coordinate follow-up processes after events, tours, volunteer activities, campaigns, and community engagement opportunities.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Advanced research, analytical, and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex information and fundraising data into practical recommendations for gift officers and senior leadership.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce concise research profiles, briefing documents, and prospect summaries.
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, and commitment to ethical fundraising and confidentiality standards.
- Proficiency with donor databases, CRM reporting, spreadsheets, data visualization, wealth screening, and prospect research tools; ability to establish consistent data standards and quality-control practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and provide timely, accurate strategic support to frontline fundraisers.
- Collaborative, mission-driven approach and ability to work effectively across departments and with senior leaders.
- Interest in IINE’s mission of creating opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed in New England.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience required.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in prospect research, prospect development, fundraising operations, development analytics, portfolio management, business intelligence, major gifts support, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit advancement, higher education advancement, healthcare philanthropy, human services fundraising, or mission-driven sales/business development preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce, iWave, Foundation Directory, LinkedIn, Power BI or similar research, CRM, reporting, and data visualization tools preferred.
- Familiarity with Boston-area philanthropy, corporate engagement, community networks, or immigrant- and refugee-serving organizations is a plus.
Work Environment Conditions
- Standard office environment with hybrid work expectations and regular use of a computer, phone, video conferencing, CRM, and research platforms.
- Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for donor, volunteer, community, or organizational events.
- May require occasional local travel to IINE sites, community events, donor meetings, or partner locations in Greater Boston and New England.
- Work requires handling confidential donor, prospect, and organizational information with discretion.
Physical Demands
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while using a computer and conducting research.
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone, video, email, and in person.
- Ability to occasionally move materials for meetings or events, generally up to 10-15 pounds.
