We're looking for a full-time Controls Programmer to develop software and control systems for specialized automated equipment.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Department Leaders to support project execution and delivery
  • Partner with Sales, Mechanical Design, Controls Design, and Project Management teams during the concept, scope, and engineering phases of projects
  • Work alongside electricians and fellow programmers to support machine build, integration, and commissioning activities
  • Design, program, test, and commission automation systems including:
    • Assembly Systems
    • Material Handling Systems
    • Robotic Cells
    • Vision Inspection Systems
    • Industrial Safety Systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues during build, testing, and startup
  • Maintain program backups and documentation in accordance with Mecsmart standards
  • Support project scheduling, milestone achievement, and budget requirements
  • Communicate project status, technical concerns, and solutions effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Travel occasionally, including global travel opportunities, to support customer installations and commissioning activities


What you’ll need:

  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Specialized Experience
  • Minimum 2+ Years’ Experience within the Automation or Automotive Manufacturing Field
  • Welding technology training would be an asset
  • Previous experience required with the following software packages:
    • Rockwell Studio 5000
    • Siemens TIA Portal
    • Omron CX-One/Omron Sysmac Studio
  • Knowledge and ability to program Robots would be an asset:
    • ABB
    • Fanuc
  • Continuous learning, growth and development
  • Work cooperatively with others and contribute to a positive workplace
  • Ability to manage tasks and use technology, resources, and time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions
