You’ll lead sterile processing operations for the Richmond facility, overseeing Coordinators and Technicians across shifts.

•     Lead the Sterile Processing Department — Coordinators and Technicians across all shifts — and build a culture of safety and professionalism

•     Ensure sterilized instrumentation is ready and accurate for every surgical schedule

•     Keep the department survey-ready against AAMI, CDC, CMS, DNV, and Joint Commission standards

•     Analyze production data — cycle times, on-time delivery, rework rates — and determine whether variation signals a process problem or a staffing/equipment constraint

•     Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions when quality issues arise, and hold or halt production when instrument integrity or safety is at risk

•     Coach and mentor Supervisors and Coordinators as their point of escalation for operational issues

•     Five years of sterile processing operations experience, including at least two years in a coordinator, supervisory, or production-planning role

•     CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification

•     CHL (HSPA) or CSPDM (CBSPD) certification, or willingness to obtain within 18 months of hire

•     High school diploma or GED

•     Three years in a management role in a healthcare or manufacturing environment

•     Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a healthcare-related field

•     Advanced certifications such as CIS, CER (HSPA) or CSIS, CFER (CBSPD)

You’re comfortable making a call under pressure — deciding whether a delayed tray is a staffing problem or an equipment problem, and acting on it. You coach through problems rather than around them, and you don’t wait for a director to tell you production has to stop when sterility is genuinely at risk.

This is a production and clinical environment. We would rather you know now than find out in week two.

•     Standing 26–50% of the shift; walking 5–25%; sitting 26–50%

•     Occasional kneeling, crouching, or bending

•     Lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting over 51 lbs.

•     Pushing/pulling loads up to 450 lbs. with equipment

•     Frequent exposure to biohazardous materials and strong chemical odors, moderate noise, controlled-access areas

Full-time, on-site, exempt. Oversight responsibility spans all shifts; this is a management role, not a fixed single-shift assignment.
