SAFETY COORDINATOR

TITLE: Safety Coordinator   POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting a safe work environment throughout the facility. This is a hands-on, floor-based position requiring daily interaction with employees, supervisors, and managers in production, warehouse, maintenance, and shipping operations.  This position will spend a significant portion of each day on the manufacturing floor identifying hazards, observing work practices, coaching employees, investigating incidents, and ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed.   Excellent Benefits Offering FREE access to On-Site Doctor 10 paid holidays   QUALIFICATIONS: Education – associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Experience – One or more years of experience in a safety related role. Prefer previous work history in a manufacturing setting. Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary. Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain a strong, visible presence on the manufacturing floor and throughout the facility. Conduct daily safety observations, inspections, and audits to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors. Work directly with employees and supervisors to correct hazards and improve safe work practices. Assist with employee safety training, new employee safety orientations, and safety meetings. Monitor compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE. Assist with safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, and emergency response. Promote employee reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses. Participate in and support safety committee activities and employee safety initiatives.   WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION: Must be able to work in heat/humidity in summer months.   PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: Walk and stand for extended periods throughout a large manufacturing facility. Regularly work on the production floor, in warehouse areas, and around manufacturing equipment. Climb stairs and access various work areas as needed. Wear required personal protective equipment. Work around moving equipment, forklifts, machinery, noise, and other typical manufacturing conditions.   VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: Ability to see details at close range.  The ability to see in low light conditions.
