Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator in Florianópolis, and in close coordination with the IOM’s Integration Unit, the consultant will strengthen IOM’s support for the implementation and execution of activities of ongoing projects to strengthen the public policies in São Miguel do Oeste aimed at migrant populations, promoting their protection, autonomy and socio-economic integration in a sustainable way, benefiting the migrant and welcoming community. At the same time, the consultant will strengthen partnerships and capacities of the private sector as a strategic partner in generating opportunities and promoting socio-economic inclusion, creating a collaborative ecosystem that drives local development and values diversity as an engine for innovation. The consultant will develop its activities under the program Porta Aberta, a partnership between IOM and Federation of Industries from the state of Santa Catarina (FIESC).
Provide technical support to the activities of ongoing projects, including those related to strengthening migration governance and expanding institutional capacity to promote socio-economic integration and protection of migrants and refugees, ensuring access to opportunities, public services and decent work;
Support and strength the local capacity in issuance of migratory documentation;
Support the elaboration of meeting notes, concept notes, reports and material;
Contribute to the development of related strategies;
Participate in meetings to strengthen migratory local governance among public stakeholders;
Organize monitoring and follow-up strategies related to the project;
Provide support in outreach activities and in the development of partnerships with private sector partners in area of responsibility to enhance employment opportunities for migrants;
Promote the capacity building of the public and private sectors;
Coordinate the information exchange among stakeholders;
Technically support the preparation of meetings; workshop preparatory meetings; side events; webinars and on-line/on-site seminars; thematic workshops, among other events related to the project;
Join coordination and update meetings with IOM´s Santa Catarina team;
Carry on work-related business travels when necessary;
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Academic BA in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, Social Assistance or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Minimum of one year of professional experience in activities related to migration, refugees, protection of migration, asylum, statelessness or other relevant programmes.
Minimum of two years of professional experience working with private or public sectors.
Working knowledge level in English.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
