Senior Electrical Engineer provides Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence (CoE) with professional engineering, technical and programmatic assistance to support efforts in development of a NCR-IADS MIC. Advisory and assistance services may include advisory assistance support in; vulnerability and risk assessment and mitigation; project justification and defense; program planning; evaluation and analyses of programs, projects, budgets and performance; and project execution, transition and commercialization. This also includes providing programmatic support in the development and preparation of acquisition and procurement documents. These services are comprehensively categorized as Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support services. As such, SETA support must expeditiously acquire the fundamental understanding of CoE’s mission support to the National Capital Regions Integrated Air Defense systems overall and respective Management and Integration offices’ mission, practices, policies, and procedures; and respond professionally and promptly to mission needs within a demanding, challenging, and evolving environment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Document Systems and Networks: Document complex system-of-systems (SoS) architectures, sensors, effectors, command and control (C2) nodes, and training networks.
- →Assess Engineering Changes: Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to analyze operational impacts, interoperability risks, and performance degradation across the system network.
- →Facilitate Multi-Agency Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between the engineering team, government program leadership, independent testing agencies, and the warfighters executing the mission.
- →Support Mission Readiness: Participate in joint technical reviews, test events, and readiness assessments to ensure system upgrades align with user needs.
- →Enforce Baselines: Formulate, establish, and enforce hardware, software, and firmware configuration baselines across operational and training variations.
- →Lead Change Boards: Serve as a core technical guide for the Configuration Control Board (CCB), helping government stakeholders evaluate technical variations and manage configuration risk.
- →Conduct System Audits: Execute formal Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs) to verify system delivery builds mirror authorized technical data packages.
- →Maintain Technical Integrity: Manage comprehensive technical data repositories, ensuring all baseline changes are thoroughly documented and tracked.
- →Requires approximately 10% travel.
- Employee must have a master’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Blending technical systems design with formal configuration management practices. Possess an in-depth knowledge of the NCR-IADS operational communications architecture.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to brief complex technical concepts to military operators, test communities, and civilian program leadership.
- CM Standards: Familiarity with standard military configuration management processes, including SAE EIA-649C and MIL-HDBK-61A.
- Prior experience working directly within a military program office environment or supporting Army/Joint Air and Missile Defense (AMD) systems.
- Familiarity with tactical data links, multi-domain sensors, or command and control (C2) nodes utilized in air defense networks.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
