Lead Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer

The Lead EHS Engineer manages the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment, compliant with all applicable H.S.E. regulations, company policies and procedures, and the safety statement ensuring safety objectives are implemented site-wide.
Responsibilities

- →Ability to interpret relevant legislation, and regulatory compliance procedures.
- →Lead the company safety team where appropriate to continuously improve the company safety systems.
- →Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical and problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- →Knowledge with any of the following skills is a plus: Manual Handling Instructor, Trained VDU Assessor, Current Safe Pass card.
- →Actively promote and increase awareness and behaviors with regards to safe H&S practices including but not limited to staff communication sessions and other employee engagement forums.
- →Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with all levels within the organization and third parties.
- →Competent in MS Office.
- →Experience with industrial radiation / Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) training.
- →Develops and implements general EHS policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and nation regulations.
- →Requires working knowledge of US-OSHA and EPA compliance requirements associated with manufacturing operations.
- →Strong leadership skills with the ability to build working relationships with individual employees, site leaders, regional EHS team, and site contractors.
- →The ability to prioritize tasks with a focus on completing tasks in a managed approach with attention to technical accuracy and within established timelines.
- →Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- →Familiar with new equipment introduction and validation processes; including, User defined criteria, FAT and SAT reviews, PSSR, and other steps to ensure the appropriate review and validation of equipment prior to site operation.
- →Maintains safety files and records.
- →May report to management on health and safety issues and concerns.
- →Support EHS programs and initiatives.
- →ISO 14001 Standard and system is preferred.
A minimum of (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Preference given to candidates with education and/or training specific to EHS in a manufacturing environment.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate creativity in identifying solutions which balance supporting customer and operational goals along with ensuring EHS requirements are compliance.
