Placement Counselor - Harrisburg/Lebanon

Maintain a working knowledge of TANF and the PA Department of Public Welfare regulations. 

Prepare periodic written reports, both statistical and narrative. 

Participate in supervisory meetings, team  meetings and division meetings on an ongoing basis. 

Participate in contract compliance and achievement of program goals.  

Participate in additional programmatic and agency-wide activities as assigned.  

Participate in periodic Employment Services trainings.  

Participate in program and Workforce Initiatives Unit Total Quality Management Implementation. 

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of funder’s goals 

Incorporate changes in daily operations as directed, based on regulator changes 

Collaborate with staff to provide appropriate community service sites, job search, and job placement activities. 

Place clients in community service sites and jobs in order to meet contract goals. 

Use assessment results and software for customized job development, matching, and placement. 

Identify area employers with potential job openings. 

Arrange for a minimum of one on-site employer presentation each month. 

Facilitate employment and other related workshops as needed.  

Develop appropriate job leads for clients with area employers.  Set up interviews with employers. 

Verify placements of job seekers within two weeks of job start date. 

Maintain working knowledge of industry and job trends.  

Market program services and participants to employers via phone and personal contacts. 

Explain any applicable tax credits and other benefits to employers. 

Develop on-going relationships with employers to ensure community service sites and job placements. 

Meet and develop relationships with program participants needing employment.  

Prepare and maintain database of leads, employers, jobs, and placements.  

Prepare clients for placements through mock interviews and job skills workshops. 

May be required to develop employer-generated training materials, improve existing workshop materials, and develop video of successful clients. 

Other related duties as assigned.
