The Manager, Transportation Operations APAC is responsible for leading end-to-end transportation operations across Asia Pacific, ensuring the reliable, compliant, cost-effective, and resilient movement of products across regional and inter-regional networks. This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Quality, Trade Compliance, Customer Service, external logistics providers, and global transportation teams to drive operational excellence, transportation reliability, supplier performance, cost optimization, and network transformation initiatives.
The role combines day-to-day transportation leadership with strategic accountability for service continuity, risk management, freight governance, network optimization, new lane activation, and continuous improvement across Johnson & Johnson's MedTech businesses.
Responsibilities

- →Lead end-to-end transportation execution across APAC regional and inter-regional networks, ensuring service reliability and business continuity.
- →Drive on-time product delivery while managing transportation performance across air, ocean, road, parcel, and multimodal modes.
- →Coordinate critical shipment prioritization and recovery actions during operational disruptions.
Performance & Supplier Management
- →Own transportation performance, driving improvements in service, lead time, quality, and cost KPIs.
- →Lead governance and performance reviews with carriers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, 4PLs, customs brokers, and Control Tower partners.
- →Establish corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
Risk & Business Continuity Management
- →Lead transportation response and mitigation strategies for disruptions including geopolitical events, capacity constraints, weather impacts, labor actions, and network interruptions.
- →Develop contingency plans and ensure rapid recovery while minimizing business and customer impact.
- →Provide clear stakeholder communication and escalation management during significant events.
Freight Spend & Value Creation
- →Oversee transportation budget performance, freight spend governance, and cost management activities.
- →Drive productivity initiatives through network optimization, mode selection, routing improvements, consolidation strategies, and supplier effectiveness.
- →Partner with Finance and Procurement to track savings, validate benefits, and support strategic sourcing activities.
Network Optimization & Transformation
- →Identify opportunities to improve transportation networks, service models, lead times, and cost structures.
- →Standardize processes, SOPs, reporting, governance frameworks, and operational best practices across the region.
- →Lead transportation-related transformation programs, Control Tower adoption, and operational excellence initiatives.
New Product & Lane Readiness
- →Support transportation readiness for new product introductions, business expansion, network changes, and new distribution flows.
- →Ensure transportation solutions meet quality, regulatory, trade compliance, and customer requirements.
- →Lead lane activation, implementation, stabilization, and transition to steady-state operations.
Quality & Compliance
- →Ensure transportation operations comply with applicable quality, regulatory, customs, and trade requirements.
- →Partner with Quality and Trade Compliance teams to manage transportation risks, investigations, CAPAs, and provider qualification activities.
- →Maintain adherence to product handling, storage, and temperature-control requirements.

Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or related operations.
- Strong expertise managing international transportation operations across Asia Pacific within a global, matrixed environment.
- Experience across air, ocean, road, parcel, and multimodal transportation networks.
- Proven success managing logistics service providers, freight forwarders, carriers, 3PLs, 4PLs, and customs partners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex operational issues, cross-functional initiatives, and transportation disruptions.
- Strong analytical, financial, stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence across functions, lead change, and drive results in a matrix organization.
Preferred
- Experience within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, import/export compliance, Incoterms, and temperature-controlled logistics.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms, Control Tower solutions, visibility tools, and transportation analytics.
- Experience supporting transportation sourcing events, network optimization, large-scale transformation programs, and new product launches.
- Lean Six Sigma, APICS, PMP, or equivalent professional certification.
