We are searching for the best talent for Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to be in Añasco,PR.


  • The Co-op term is from January to December, 2027.
  • Full time requirement (40 hours per week).


The Manufacturing Engineering CO-OP will support manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, engineering projects, and technical problem-solving activities within a regulated medical device environment. Under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Engineering Mentor, the co-op will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering while developing technical, analytical, and leadership skills.

The co-op will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, Supply Chain, Validation, Automation, and Operations to support business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role provides exposure to process optimization, equipment performance, data analysis, continuous improvement methodologies, and project execution while applying Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives.



  • Support manufacturing engineers in day-to-day operations and troubleshooting activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, yield improvement, waste reduction, OEE enhancement, and operational excellence.
  • Collect, analyze, and present manufacturing and process performance data.
  • Assist in root cause investigations, corrective actions, and problem-solving activities using structured methodologies.
  • Support engineering documentation updates, including procedures, drawings, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Participate in equipment qualifications, process validations, and verification activities under engineering supervision.
  • Assist in monitoring manufacturing metrics and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution and business priorities.
  • Generate presentations, reports, and project status updates for management review.
  • Support implementation of new technologies, automation initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and promote a safe working environment.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Quality System requirements, and all applicable company policies.
  • Support engineering projects from planning through execution while gaining exposure to project management tools and techniques.
  • Develop technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, and medical device regulations.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Other related Engineering disciplines.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Añasco, Puerto Rico manufacturing facility during the CO-OP assignment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).


  • Experience with engineering projects, laboratory work, research, or previous internships.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
