Assistant Director, School of Health, Wellness & Human Services

This role focuses on strengthening student success, retention, belonging, and degree completion within a higher education environment. You’ll serve as a success navigator for an assigned cohort, providing consistent outreach, individualized support, and proactive intervention throughout students’ academic journeys. The position combines case management, advising, engagement programming, career preparation, and community partnership. You’ll work closely with faculty, advisors, student services, families, and community organizations to address academic, social, and economic barriers. The role also contributes to workforce education programs, student events, assessment activities, and grant-supported initiatives. It is well suited to an education professional who is passionate about supporting diverse student populations and creating inclusive pathways to academic and career success.

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or recognized foreign equivalent, plus at least one year of relevant professional experience working with or mentoring college students; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Direct experience working with diverse student populations, including individuals who are educationally or economically disadvantaged.
• Familiarity with advising, success coaching, student navigation, and/or case management practices is preferred.
• Experience with program or curricular design and program evaluation is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by students from underserved or disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Knowledge of career and transfer services and related student support practices.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and competing needs efficiently.
• Ability to use assessment and data to guide program and initiative development.
• Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential student information.
• Demonstrated initiative, creativity, collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to continuous professional development.
• Ability to embrace change, take ownership of new projects, and work effectively in a student-centered environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred; English combined with other languages may also be considered.
• Availability for limited evening and weekend commitments.
