This is a senior remote leadership role overseeing project management operations across a complex advisory services environment.
You will lead and develop a team of project managers while maintaining direct involvement in high-priority client and delivery initiatives.
The role combines people leadership, project governance, operational excellence, risk management, and client engagement.
You will help standardize delivery practices, improve reporting, and introduce technology and automation to increase efficiency and consistency.
As a player-coach, you will guide teams through complex projects while strengthening their capabilities, processes, and performance.
You will partner with delivery, quality, sales, and leadership teams to improve customer outcomes and achieve key operational metrics.
The position offers the opportunity to shape scalable delivery operations within a fast-moving professional services and cybersecurity environment.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of project managers, including performance reviews, regular 1:1s, mentoring, career development, workload coverage, and team growth planning.

  • Partner with Delivery Operations and Project Management leadership to develop and standardize project management procedures, reporting practices, and delivery optimization initiatives.

  • Establish consistent approaches to project execution, governance, communication, documentation, and performance management across advisory engagements.

  • Leverage technology, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen delivery processes.

  • Create and maintain training materials while providing ongoing coaching to project managers throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support delivery utilization targets and other key performance indicators while identifying opportunities for operational improvement.

  • Lead proactive risk identification, risk reporting, mitigation planning, issue management, and escalation for high-risk clients and projects.

  • Collaborate with quality management, sales, delivery teams, and leadership to strengthen the end-to-end customer experience.

  • Execute project management activities directly when needed while overseeing the performance and delivery quality of the assigned project management team.

  • Manage project coordination, including schedules, task assignments, resource requirements, client communications, status meetings, and issue escalation.

  • Develop and maintain project work plans, adjusting scope, schedules, resources, and priorities as business requirements evolve.

  • Communicate resource needs and coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish clear ownership and responsibilities.

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients throughout engagements and communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

  • Travel for client or internal business needs as required, up to approximately 25%.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of project management or equivalent professional experience.

  • 5+ years of external client-facing experience in consulting, professional services, technology, compliance, or a related environment.

  • 5+ years of experience leading project managers, project management teams, or cross-functional delivery organizations, with demonstrated success as a player-coach.

  • 3+ years of experience applying technology and automation to process improvement initiatives.

  • Strong thought leadership in process optimization and operational transformation.

  • Proven ability to proactively manage client escalations, project risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.

  • Strong understanding of project and practice management best practices, with experience independently leading cross-functional teams through complete project lifecycles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confidence communicating with executive-level stakeholders.

  • Strong presentation, organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills.

  • Understanding of the operating practices and commercial dynamics of project management teams within professional consulting organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.

  • Experience with AI-enabled automation, large and complex IT projects, cloud platforms, compliance, cybersecurity, or professional services is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with Agile, hybrid delivery methodologies, PMO development, resource management, Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet is a plus.

  • Knowledge of security principles, policies, and industry best practices is beneficial.

  • PMP or Certified Scrum Master certification is strongly preferred; Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, CISM, Security+, AWS, or GCP certifications are also valued.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
