Senior Data Center Technician – Fiber

This role is a hands-on field position supporting critical data center infrastructure across enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, AI/HPC, construction, and operational environments.
You will install, test, troubleshoot, remediate, and maintain fiber and copper cabling as well as physical data center equipment.
The position combines rack-and-stack deployment, structured cabling, smart-hands support, quality control, and detailed documentation.
You will work from technical drawings, rack elevations, cable schedules, port maps, labels, and runbooks while maintaining high standards for safety and workmanship.
The role is highly travel-oriented, requiring frequent nationwide assignments and flexibility across deployment schedules and customer environments.
Success requires technical reliability, attention to detail, independence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with field teams, engineers, customers, and project stakeholders.

• 2+ years of experience in data center operations, telecommunications, low-voltage installation, structured cabling, network deployment, or a related field.

• Hands-on experience installing and working with both copper and fiber-optic cabling.

• Experience mounting and installing servers, switches, storage equipment, patch panels, cable managers, and other equipment within data center cabinets.

• Ability to accurately interpret cable labels, rack elevations, port maps, basic drawings, cable schedules, and technical runbooks.

• Strong attention to detail, workmanship, documentation, cleanliness, and workplace safety.

• Ability to independently execute assigned work while collaborating effectively with a traveling field team.

• Strong troubleshooting and remediation skills, with the ability to identify defects and complete corrective work efficiently.

• Ability to accurately document completed work through photographs, serial numbers, asset information, issue notes, and project closeout records.

• Valid driver's license and ability to satisfy applicable background, drug, safety, security, and site-access screening requirements.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 75%–90% nationwide, including frequent overnight and extended assignments.

• Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, deployment windows, and 10–12-hour shifts as project requirements dictate.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and participate in heavier team lifts.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and work inside equipment cabinets.

• Ability to perform repetitive cable installation, dressing, labeling, equipment installation, and remediation tasks.

• Ability to work safely in active construction and operational data center environments while using required personal protective equipment.

• A dependable, proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of assigned work, communicate issues early, and maintain high standards under demanding field conditions.
