This is a hands-on technical delivery role supporting complex R&D technology environments across a global organization.
You will translate architecture standards and technical direction into secure, scalable, and operationally ready systems and platforms.
The role spans hybrid cloud, SaaS, high-performance computing, data integrations, observability, and emerging AI and generative AI architectures.
You will work closely with Enterprise IT, cybersecurity, vendors, R&D teams, and technical stakeholders to deliver critical technology capabilities.
Your work will help enable scientific workflows while maintaining strong security, compliance, reliability, and supportability standards.
The position offers an opportunity to contribute to modern AI patterns including RAG, vector databases, secure AI gateways, and agentic workflows.
As a senior individual contributor, you will also coordinate technical workstreams, coach colleagues, and help establish consistent engineering practices.

Execute assigned systems engineering activities across on-premises, hybrid cloud, vendor-hosted, and multi-tenant SaaS environments in alignment with established architecture and engineering standards.
Partner with Enterprise IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, identity, cloud, vendors, and R&D stakeholders to coordinate technical designs, dependencies, environments, access, implementations, and issue resolution.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, integration designs, deployment plans, environment specifications, runbooks, technical decision records, and platform lifecycle artifacts.
Coordinate secure integrations connecting third-party platforms, internal applications, scientific workflows, data pipelines, and other R&D technology environments.
Implement observability and supportability capabilities, including monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, runbooks, and incident-management processes.
Support the configuration, deployment, validation readiness, and operational handoff of HPC clusters, containerized environments, storage platforms, data lakes, and pipelines supporting compute-intensive scientific workloads.
Manage technical lifecycle activities including patch coordination, release preparation, configuration documentation, automated deployment inputs, and transition to steady-state operations.
Implement approved AI and machine-learning architecture patterns, including RAG pipelines, vector stores, semantic retrieval, embeddings, secure AI gateways, multi-agent orchestration, and multimodal integrations.
Support infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, integration, and platform-adoption initiatives, including technical impact assessments, cutover plans, release-readiness materials, and support handoffs.
Apply security, architecture, compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and operational controls to assigned systems and platforms.
Coordinate with audit, compliance, computer systems validation, cybersecurity, Enterprise IT, and vendor teams to support applicable pharmaceutical, GxP, and internal requirements.
Identify and escalate technical risks, dependencies, architectural constraints, support gaps, and compliance considerations while providing transparent status and decision updates to leadership.
Provide day-to-day technical coordination across project contributors, vendor resources, and matrixed teams without direct people-management responsibility.
Coach colleagues and partners on systems engineering, documentation, integration standards, observability, operational readiness, and compliance practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
7+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, cloud, infrastructure, digital technology, AI, data, integration, platform engineering, or a related technical delivery field; pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical-device experience is preferred.
Demonstrated experience coordinating complex technical work across cross-functional, matrixed, vendor, Enterprise IT, and engineering teams.
Hands-on experience with externally developed platforms, SaaS solutions, integration architectures, cloud or hybrid infrastructure, observability, and application lifecycle management.
Strong programming experience with Python and SQL for automation, data integration, API testing, scripting, and technical troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and scripting technologies such as Bash or PowerShell.
Practical understanding of REST APIs, event-driven integrations, JSON/XML data exchange, authentication, and secure system-to-system connectivity.
Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments, including compute, storage, networking, identity, access controls, monitoring, and resource management.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code or configuration-management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, code reviews, automated testing, release management, and environment-promotion practices.
Technical understanding of HPC, Linux environments, job schedulers, storage layers, and compute-intensive scientific workloads.
Hands-on exposure to ML, AI, and generative AI implementation and deployment patterns, including RAG, embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, model integration, secure AI gateways, and agentic workflows.
Ability to implement observability using logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and incident/problem-management processes.
Understanding of cybersecurity, identity and access management, data protection, intellectual property safeguards, vendor-platform controls, GxP computer systems validation, and 21 CFR Part 11 expectations.
Experience applying software lifecycle methodologies and delivery practices such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, release management, and operational-readiness planning.
Strong technical analysis, documentation, communication, issue-management, and stakeholder-coordination skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear risks, decisions, dependencies, and action plans.
Ability to work effectively with Enterprise IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, identity, compliance, audit, vendors, and R&D stakeholders.
Familiarity with R for scientific, statistical, or analytics workflows is preferred; Java, C#, or similar enterprise application experience is a plus.
Some travel may be required as part of assigned responsibilities.
