  • Bachelor’s degree in education, TESOL, English, Linguistics, or a related field, with 3+ years of experience teaching English to adult, non-native speakers in a classroom setting.
  • Must have 2+ years of curriculum experience ensuring compliance with program standards and federal and state regulations.
  • Proficient in using technology to enhance classroom learning.
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of the program.
  • Master’s degree in education, curriculum development, or English as a Second Language.
  • TESOL/ESOL certificate from an accredited university.
  • Experience with Johnson County Community College processes and resources. 
  • Curriculum Design & Compliance :
    • Design, develop, and implement new curricula to comply with funding requirements and continuously improve instruction and outcomes. Monitor program requirements and best practices and proactively evaluate, adapt, and refine English language (EL) curricula to address new regulatory requirements and expectations, student needs, and best practices, ensuring that all curricula align with JCCC, state, and national requirements. 
    • Coach instructors on curriculum requirements and observe classrooms for compliance.
    • Support EL Integrated Education and Training (IET) classes; including on-site programming and community partners.
  • Instructor Training & Staff Development:
    • Train and mentor new EL instructors and assist the EL Program Coordinators with teacher observations and coaching.
    • Onboard, train, observe, develop, supervise, and coach employees and support the EL Program Coordinators in providing feedback to instructors to improve their performance.
    • Assist the EL Program Coordinators with the design and implementation of professional development opportunities for instructors. 
  • Direct Instruction & Student Success:
    • Teach at least one class per semester of adult learners in EL classes, to help students achieve English language and job readiness skills to transition into college or participate in an IET program.
    • Evaluate students' entry-level Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores and align them with the program curriculum to determine placement and help set student goals for measurable skill gains (MSGs).
    • Support part-time leads in addressing student needs.
  • Policy, Procedures & Operations:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and policies for JCAE, including the design and facilitation of training. 
  • Special Projects & Community Engagement :
    • Assist in the creation and implementation of special projects, such as IET celebration ceremonies, EC2 completion ceremony, JCAE marketing and fundraising campaigns, and curriculum-related specialty events and materials. 
  • Other duties as assigned:
