About the role
Reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Cash Reconciliation Accountant is primarily responsible for cash reconciliation and related reporting activities. This position provides a great growth opportunity for the right individual who will be able to accept additional responsibilities as the company grows.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all cash deposit transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Extract data from bank statements and organize it into standardized reports.
- Monitor all depository accounts and compile cash activity into weekly reports.
- Reconcile cash and credit card deposits at the practice level, identifying discrepancies between cash system reports and actual bank deposits.
- Research and resolve cash reconciliation discrepancies in coordination with practice managers.
- Respond to inquiries and provide support to other departments regarding deposit transactions and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly cash-related journal entries.
- Perform month-end close activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare account analyses and reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Identify and recommend process improvements within the role's areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with other corporate departments to research and resolve reconciling items.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and well-organized electronic and paper records, including supporting documentation for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Utilize AEG systems, dashboards, and policies to support effective internal controls, best cash-handling practices, and efficient reconciliation processes.
- Crosstrain in designated finance functions to support employee development and departmental continuity and serve as a cross-functional backup when needed.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in accounting
- Minimum of 2 years progressive accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, Lookups, SumIFs formulas) and ability to handle large amounts of data required
- Must be comfortable working in high volume, data-intensive environment
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn and use job-specific systems and tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills with proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to gather facts, analyze problems in depth and break down into components
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization promptly and professionally
- Able to project a positive attitude and be a team player
- High integrity and work ethics
