The incumbent will be responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership during the nightshift, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. The role coordinates nursing services and multidisciplinary teams, maintains clinical governance and regulatory compliance, and supports the efficient operation of the hospital while ensuring continuity of care and effective decision-making.
- Provide clinical and operational leadership during the night shift.
- Coordinate nursing services and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor patient safety, quality indicators, and clinical outcomes.
- Promote infection prevention and control practices.
- Manage staffing resources and support cost-effective operations.
- Respond to clinical and operational incidents, providing timely leadership and escalation where required.
- Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient-centred care.
- Support and develop nursing staff through leadership, coaching, and supervision.
- Collaborate with medical practitioners and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
Requirements

- Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Nursing Management qualification being advantageous.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise with the ability to provide leadership across multiple clinical disciplines.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within an acute hospital environment is advantageous.
- Midwifery qualifications and experience will be advantageous.
SKILLS
(Practical & Technical)
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and hospital information systems.

- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to emergency situations during the night shift.
