- Performs cleaning procedures according to cleaning schedule meeting department quality standards.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of cleaning procedures used in facility spaces, including patient rooms, isolation rooms, utility rooms, exam rooms, public areas, restrooms, labs, offices, classrooms, auditoriums, corridors, elevators, stairwells, ancillary areas, outer buildings, storerooms, equipment rooms, housekeeping closets, dock areas, trash areas, and outside entrance areas.
- Follows all hospital and department Infection Prevention and Control, Human Resources, and Safety policies and procedures. Reports infection prevention, control, and safety incidents to supervisor. Assists with completion of incident reports.
- May be trained to complete project cleaning if required in work assignment, including scrubbing, stripping, and burnishing hard surface floors; cleaning carpet, furniture, and mats; moving equipment and/or furniture; washing walls, ceilings, doors, floors, windows, vents, lights, trashcans, trash dumpsters, equipment, and furniture; and replacing curtains, blinds, draperies, and shower curtains as assigned.
- Delivers clean linen and stocks linen carts to established par levels.
- Removes soiled linen and trash and transports them to appropriate soiled linen storage rooms, dumpsters, or recycle containers.
- Keeps housekeeping cart and closet clean, safe, and orderly. Collects equipment and/or supplies for daily use. Restocks housekeeping cart and closet daily to ensure adequate supply of chemicals and cleaning supplies. Uses cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
- Operates and maintains housekeeping equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures. Cleans equipment before returning it to storage area. Reports equipment in need of repair and safety hazards to supervisor.
- May be required to carry a device for communication purposes. Responds to pages, radio, and telephone communications promptly and professionally. Shows consideration when interacting with co-workers and customers.
- Demonstrates ability to follow directions and provide dependable service.
- Participates in team meetings, in-service training, and special programs. Accepts
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED. OR
- Currently enrolled in a high school or GED program
Knowledge Requirements
- Positions are designed specifically for individuals 16–17 years of age
- Parent or legal guardian consent is required for employment
- Work assignments and schedules will comply with all applicable labor laws and organizational guidelines
- Training and onboarding will be provided by the department
- NEO and CST are required for all youth employees
- Youth Employees are restricted from the following:
- Floating outside of participating areas
- Operation of or assistance with power-driven hoisting and lift devices (floor-based, ceiling-mounted, and powered sit-to-stand):
- May NOT operate or assist with patient lift equipment
- May NOT participate in any part of the lift process, including:
- Placing slings or lift mats
- Positioning patients for lift equipment
- Assisting another staff member during lift use
- Examples of restricted equipment: floor-based lifts, ceiling-mounted lifts, and powered sit-to-stand devices
- 1:1 observation (Constant Observation, Patient Companion, Patient Safety Assistant)
- Providing care to patients or be in areas where there is potential exposure to radioactive substances and/or ionizing radiation:
- Includes accompanying patients to locations where radiation precautions are required
