MBA Consultant
Quick Summary
Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Mathematics or a closely related field from a top university (target GPA 3.7+).
Keystone is a premier economics, technology, and strategy consulting firm built to help companies lead through transformation. As breakthrough innovations reshape industries, redefine competition and change our society, complex and highly competitive ecosystems emerge. Keystone advises technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and governments on business, economic, litigation, and regulatory strategy in relation to these innovations and competitive eco-systems. We operate globally from offices in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Dubai, and Washington, D.C.
About The Role
As an MBA Consultant, you are a versatile strategist who will own analytical workstreams, adapt quickly across problem types, and synthesize insights for high-stakes decision-making. Keystone teams are interdisciplinary, and you will work across a wide range of problems and practice areas.
During the interview process, we assess your ability to apply your core skillset to unfamiliar questions and operate effectively outside your primary area of focus.
Final levelling is determined by education, prior experience, and interview performance.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis
- Own and structure end-to-end analytical workstreams, translating ambiguous business or economic questions into rigorous, testable analytical approaches.
- Design and implement advanced quantitative and econometric analyses (e.g., regression, causal inference, forecasting, or simulation models) using Python, R, or Stata.
- Independently assess data quality, define methodologies, and select appropriate modeling approaches, making trade-offs under uncertainty.
- Interpret results in a business/economic context, drawing out implications, risks, and limitations—not just reporting outputs.
- Guide and review Associate-level work, ensuring analytical rigor, efficiency, and quality of execution.
Research
- Lead targeted research efforts to inform problem framing, hypothesis development, and analytical design, not just support it.
- Synthesize economic theory, industry dynamics, and technical constraints into structured hypotheses and analytical plans.
- Critically evaluate sources (academic, regulatory, market data) and determine what materially impacts the case or client decision.
- Connect qualitative insights with quantitative findings to refine direction and challenge initial assumptions.
Report Writing
- Drive development of clear, structured narratives that link analysis to actionable insights and recommendations.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into persuasive, client-ready materials, tailoring messaging to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Own significant sections of client deliverables (reports, memos, presentations), ensuring clarity, logical flow, and defensibility.
- Communicate findings and implications in internal and client discussions, contributing to decision-making and shaping team direction.
- Develop high-impact exhibits that convey both analytical rigor and strategic insight.
