HIM Coding Tech II

• Codes Inpatient, Observation and Same Day Surgery (SDS) charts using ICD10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.

• →Checks inpatient, observation and same day surgery charts for completeness of documentation by working the coding queues.
• →Uses ICD10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to accurately and completely assign codes to each patient chart.
• →Communicates with physicians and other personnel as needed to locate and code certain emergency room, outpatient/clinic/ancillary records.
• →Maintains patient, departmental, and employee confidentiality at all times.

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred.
• One year coding experience preferred.
• Other coding certifications, such as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), etc. may be accepted with years of experience. Intern/externships are considered in experience time. Transcripts will be reviewed.

• Work requires light duty lifting.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.

• Position can possibly be remote, but must be able to physically come into the office/hospital as requested.
