As a Behavioral Health Representative I, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, organized, and connected care experience for patients receiving behavioral health services. You will partner with on-site Behavioral Health providers, including all provider types, by providing hands-on administrative and clinical support that helps patients feel prepared and supported at every step.
This meaningful role combines organization, communication, patient support, and teamwork. Your work managing provider schedules and referrals, obtaining vital signs, completing risk assessments, and helping coordinate behavioral health emergencies will allow providers to focus on patient care while helping improve access throughout the community.

Whether you are coordinating interpretation services, managing appointment access, assisting with clinical procedures, or responding to patient needs by phone, you will help create a more connected and supportive healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
~3 min read- →Arrange language line interpretation services.
- →Sort or dispense mail/faxes.
- →Assist new patients with the registration process by sending VSC and following up on the day of appointment if they have not completed intake forms.
- →Manage EHR and continuity of care lists.
- →Manage provider schedules to optimize patient access, including scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patients as needed.
- →Manage the waitlist for all Behavioral Health Services to fill open appointment slots.
- →Process and follow up on Behavioral Health internal service orders, including psychological testing referrals and Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH).
- →Obtain vital signs on patients and enter them into EHRS in a timely fashion.
- →Screen new patients and complete risk assessments as needed.
- →Translate for monolingual providers, as needed.
- →Attend required mandatory all-staff meetings.
- →Complete reminder calls to all unconfirmed patients for scheduled appointments to ensure compliance.
- →Process psychological testing prior authorizations to ensure insurance covers visits.
- →Answer phones and retrieve voicemail messages left; send phone notes to the appropriate provider, including refill requests, school-requested forms, letters for patients, and other matters.
- →Provide data entry, general office duties, and administrative support for Behavioral Health at the clinical site.
- →Complete prior authorizations for medications as requested by insurance.
- →Assist with triaging behavioral health emergencies in the clinic as needed, staff with the appropriate licensed provider, and handle matters per Behavioral Health policies and procedures.
- →Handle blood draws, injections, EKGs, and drug screens for Behavioral Health Representatives who are Medical Assistants.
- →Process lab service orders in the EMR to send to the Lab, patient service center, or provide to a patient.
- →BH Representatives I and Floaters will cross-cover remotely and travel to other locations for coverage, as needed.
- →Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- →Promote effective working relationships and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- →Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- →Attend all required safety education programs.
- →Operate assigned equipment and safely perform all procedures as instructed.
- →Maintain the work area and equipment in the condition required by Legacy standards.
- →Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions.
- →Check the patient’s environment and equipment to ensure safety.
- →Report safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
- →Follow Legacy’s exposure control plans and bloodborne and airborne pathogen precautions.
- →Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment, including Universal Precautions.
- →Assure a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
- →Attend annual education programs.
- →Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- BLS (CPR & AED) Certified required.
- Three to six months of related experience preferred.
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
- Familiarity with BH preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Good direct and telephone communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a team setting
- Leadership ability for program management, growth, and development within the Center and the Community.
- Communication/interpersonal skills to interact courteously and professionally with associates and customers of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and the ability to interact effectively with various community agencies and resources.
- Coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual English and Spanish speaking preferred.
