Clinic Medical Director (Internal Medicine)

As Clinic Medical Director, you will guide clinical practice for providers across primary care service lines at your assigned site while partnering closely with operational and nursing leadership.

You will help create a care environment where providers can grow, teams can work well together, and patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. This role offers the opportunity to balance clinical practice with administrative leadership while helping strengthen workflows, access, scheduling, quality standards, and day-to-day clinic operations.

• Serve as the clinical lead and direct supervisor for primary care providers across Pediatrics, Adult Family Practice & Specialty, and OBGYN.
• Partner with site, operational, nursing, and medical leadership to improve care delivery and clinic performance.
• Support provider growth, professionalism, collaboration, and successful implementation of new initiatives.
• Help shape clinical workflows, access, scheduling, and quality standards that directly affect patients and families.
• Contribute to a mission-driven healthcare environment where your leadership can create meaningful community impact.
• Balance clinical practice with administrative leadership, with administrative time based on the size of the clinic and subject to change accordingly.
• Continue participating in the Provider Incentive Program, with a modification to include metrics of success for the clinic site.

Clinical services may include family planning and related preventative health services in compliance with federal funding requirements. Through this work, you will play an important part in the healthcare ecosystem while continuing to develop your leadership and clinical impact.

• →Serve as the clinical lead at the clinic and direct supervisor of providers in primary care, including Pediatrics, Adult Family Practice & Specialty, and OBGYN.
• →Manage clinic responsibilities in collaboration with the Site Director.
• →Optimize provider schedules and coordinate schedule coverage.
• →Address provider behavior and professionalism concerns.
• →Implement and optimize clinical workflows.
• →Address urgent issues in the clinic.
• →Directly communicate with the service line medical director regarding provider behavior concerns.
• →Educate clinic providers on new initiatives and projects, and monitor and support provider implementation.
• →Promote and monitor specific productivity metrics and standards of care for each provider.
• →Monitor assigned empanelment metrics for providers at the site, such as panel size and provider loyalty.
• →Assist medical directors with provider recruitment and interviews for the site.
• →Review data on new-patient wait times, no-show rates, and related measures to help determine how and where the service line can grow or expand.
• →Serve as the local link between the EHRS/IT team and the clinic to ensure discipline-related content remains current and relevant and that providers’ use of the system is optimized.
• →Partner and strategize with the Site Director to implement improvement strategies in discipline-specific processes, including scheduling and clinic workflows.
• →Manage CME time and reimbursement requests.
• →Manage the PTO and holiday schedule in coordination with the Site Director.
• →Manage complaints and incident reports related to clinical operations.
• →Serve as the Lab Director for the site.
• →Serve as the assigned training MD for Standing Delegated Orders.
• →Continue participating as a provider in the Provider Incentive Program, with a modification to include metrics of success for the clinic site.
• →Maintain administrative responsibilities based on the size of the clinic, recognizing that administrative time will change accordingly.
• →Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• →Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduate from an accredited medical school as M.D., D.O.
• Primary Care Specialty (Pediatrics, OB/Gyn, Adult Medicine, Family Practice)
• Credentialed and privileged according to Legacy’s standards and practices
• Provider shall obtain, maintain and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested by Legacy

• Physician with at least 3 years of clinical practice, post residency
• Board certified in their specialty
• Leadership/management experience

• Experience in supporting clinical programs across departments and initiating and developing programs
• Experience in FQHC environment

• Experience in interacting and collaborating with other physicians
• Able to establish relationships with different groups of internal/external stakeholders to obtain input and buy in
• Strong problem-solver and business acumen.
