Pharmacy Technician

Join our pharmacy family as a Pharmacy Technician and make a meaningful difference in the care experience of patients and families in our community. Working alongside the pharmacist and pharmacy team, you will help prepare, fill, and deliver medications while supporting safe, accurate, and timely pharmacy operations.

Your attention to detail, compassion, and organization will help patients receive the medications and support they need. You will also provide daily leadership by helping the team meet operational priorities, complete quality checklists, and minimize interruptions in service.

• Support the pharmacist in the preparation, filling, and delivery of medications.
• Help promote safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing practices.

• Build respectful relationships with patients, coworkers, referring physicians’ offices, and insurance companies.
• Play an important role in community healthcare by helping patients access and remain adherent to their medications.
• Participate in education, training, pharmacy initiatives, and organizational events that strengthen care delivery.

• Collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy employees, managers, patients, and community partners.
• Share knowledge, support new employees, and participate in ongoing training that encourages professional growth.
• Contribute to medication adherence, inventory integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuity of pharmacy services.

• Help strengthen the community healthcare ecosystem through dependable pharmacy support.

• →Assist the pharmacist in ensuring the appropriateness of medication doses by obtaining and entering patient information as necessary.
• →Ensure the patient receives correct medication by using appropriate dispensing procedures.
• →Maintain adequate stock of medication and supplies, use safety precautions when stocking, and ensure proper filling techniques are used when preparing medications.
• →Re-establish priorities based on workload.
• →Ensure insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations are processed in a timely manner.
• →Complete and properly document Daily and Monthly Activity checklists, including expired drug checking, cleaning, area inspections, and ordering as assigned.
• →Ensure appropriate counseling time is offered to patients and document when refused.
• →Communicate with referring physicians’ offices or insurance companies as supported by procedures or requested by pharmacists.
• →Perform weekly controlled substance cycle counts and document as appropriate.
• →Participate in education of new employees.
• →Participate in education and training of pharmacy employees and for organizational needs, ie pharmacy openings, immunizations, World Health Day, National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
• →Provide positive customer service by interacting with customers according to the Legacy Community Health Employee Handbook when assisting clients at the cash register.
• →Communicate with customers and co-workers with respect and courtesy, avoiding loud and disruptive conversation and/or remarks indicating disrespect.
• →Participate in hand-off communication when beginning and leaving your shift.
• →Maintain patient confidentiality.
• →Notify Pharmacist, Manager, Pharmacy of any problems that go unresolved so that attention to the problem can occur; and understand the urgency of follow up when necessary.
• →Disseminate any information (drug shorts, availability, pricing, timely to the pharmacists and peers.
• →Track and provide information regarding non-stock requests and recommendations for par adjustments.
• →Participate in interim and annual physical inventories.
• →Run reporting tools as necessary to support tracking and ensuring medication adherence.
• →Support the Manager, Pharmacy Operations in activities necessary to ensure the implementation and changes associated with the 340b program inventory integrity.
• →Maintain prescription files according to policy and procedure; complete filing daily.
• →Collect cash as appropriate and perform daily procedures for money collections.
• →Reconcile prescription fills against billing.
• →Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate
• Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
• Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities
• Must maintain BLS /CPR
• Must maintain required certifications

• Must have two (2) years healthcare experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 1+ years community pharmacy preferred
• 1+ years pharmacy logistics preferred

• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
• Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register
• Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize
• Computer experience – Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.

• Bilingual preferred
