About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking a full-time Mentor Liaison Officer to join the Child, Youth and Family Team based in Unley working both the Department for Education’s School Retention Program and Specialist Foster Care Mentor Program in delivering 1:1 care mentoring services in community settings for children and young people in care.
The Mentoring program works in line with the CARE model striving to enhance the lives of children and young people in our Child Youth & Family programs incorporating a therapeutic, trauma informed approach.
In this role you will manage, provide support and guide mentors who engage with and support vulnerable children and young people with complex needs with the aim of addressing specific needs in that young person’s life.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Coordinate the intake and referral process of new children and young people entering the mentoring program
- →Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of purposeful mentoring activities
- →Support staff to apply the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate and respond to crisis incidents
- →Coordinate and oversee rostering and timesheet requirements for a team of mentors
- →Promote, develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders including clients and their families.
Requirements
~1 min read- Degree in Human Services or related discipline OR equivalent working experience in a similar role
- Experience in the co-ordination and management of programs for children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage
- Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team
- Demonstrated experience in understanding and application of child development and of planning activities to support the learning of a broad range of life skills
- Strong verbal communication, report writing and computer skills
- Established problem solving and conflict management skills
- The ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
