The Pipeliner is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of pipeline systems used in oil and gas, utility, water, wastewater, and industrial construction projects. This position works as part of a construction crew to safely install pipelines, perform tie-ins, assist with trenching and excavation activities, and ensure all work is completed according to project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair underground and above-ground pipeline systems.
  • Assist with pipeline layout, alignment, and installation activities.
  • Perform pipe handling, rigging, positioning, and assembly operations.
  • Install steel, PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, and other piping materials as required.
  • Assist with excavation, trench preparation, backfilling, and site restoration.
  • Perform pipeline tie-ins, fittings installation, and valve installation.
  • Work with welders, equipment operators, and foremen to complete project tasks efficiently.
  • Verify proper pipe grade, alignment, and elevations according to project plans.
  • Assist with hydrostatic testing, leak testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Inspect materials and report damaged or defective equipment.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized pipeline installation equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and job site.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and client safety requirements.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2+ years of pipeline, utility, heavy civil, or construction experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of pipeline construction methods and materials.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow directions, project plans, and project specifications.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment and client-specific screenings.
  • Experience with oil and gas, natural gas, water, sewer, or industrial pipeline projects.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • NCCER Pipeline Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working around excavation and trenching operations.
  • Equipment operation experience.
  • Experience with pipefitting, rigging, or utility construction.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in trenches, around heavy equipment, and on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as project demands require.
  • Knowledge of pipeline installation techniques and construction practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Ability to identify and report jobsite hazards.
  • Willingness to learn and develop pipeline construction skills.
  • Pipeline construction sites, utility projects, industrial facilities, and heavy civil construction environments.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, mud, excavation activities, welding operations, and changing weather conditions.
  • Travel and temporary assignments may be required.
