Newham Council is committed to early intervention, prevention and equity. We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional to play a central strategic role in strengthening support for young carers and their journal 

This is a unique opportunity will provide strategic coordination across Early Help, the Young Carer commissioned supplier - Newham Carer Community), voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS) partners and organisations and statutory partners, strengthening pathways, improving collaboration and raising awareness of young carers’ needs across the system.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Coordinator to play a key strategic role within our Young Carer Project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on strategy development, awareness‑raising and partnership connection to improve outcomes for young carers and their families.

Working closely with the Project Manager, the post holder will support the design, coordination and delivery of a high‑profile programme of improvement activity across Children and Young People’s Services and with external partners.

  • Support the delivery of a portfolio of strategic projects linked to the Young Carer Project, ensuring alignment with wider Children and Young People’s priorities. 
  • Lead on awareness‑raising and engagement activity, strengthening understanding of young carers’ needs across internal teams and partner organisations. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including education, health, social care, voluntary and community sector partners. 
  • Support the development of cross‑service and cross‑agency working, enabling more joined‑up responses for young carers. 
  • Coordinate workshops, meetings and engagement events to support co‑production with young carers and families. 
  • Contribute to the development of strategies, plans, reports and briefings, influencing senior leaders and partners. 
  • Monitor delivery, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure progress against agreed outcomes. 
  • Lead on clear, timely and engaging programme communications, both internally and across the partnership. 

This is non -case holder role. The post is focused on system improvement, engagement, and programme delivery, rather than direct work with individual families. 

You will bring:

  • A strong understanding of services for children and young people, and the wider policy and legislative context.
  • Experience supporting service improvement, transformation or change programmes.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and report‑writing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence in facilitating workshops and supporting co‑production and consultation activity.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work constructively across professional boundaries.
