Newham is one of London’s youngest and most diverse boroughs, proud of its strong communities and committed to delivering high‑quality, inclusive adult social care services. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Unqualified Social Care Officer to join our Adults Social Care team.
About the Role

As an Unqualified Social Care Officer, you will work with adults, carers and families in the community to deliver person‑centred strength-based assessments, support planning, and reviews. You will manage an allocated caseload, and support people to achieve the outcomes that matter most to them.
A key part of the role includes working with young people aged 18–25 who are transitioning from Children and Young People’s Services (CYPs) into Adult Social Care. Experience of working with young people with disabilities and/or mental health needs is essential. An understanding of SEND, education pathways and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) is desirable.
You will work collaboratively with Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, health colleagues and partner agencies to ensure services are safe, effective and responsive, while promoting independence, choice and wellbeing.
Responsibilities

- →Carry out high‑quality assessments, support planning, reviews
- →Deliver personalised services that promote independence, choice and positive risk‑taking
- →Maintain accurate, timely and proportionate case recording in line with statutory requirements
- →Provide information, advice and signposting to universal and preventative services
- →Work flexibly as part of a duty rota, including occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays
You will have experience working in adult social care and a strong commitment to person‑centred practice, equality and safeguarding. You will be organised, confident in managing a caseload, and able to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary environment. Strong communication, recording and ICT skills are essential.
