The Operations & Maintenance Technician – Part-Time Intern will support the daily operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation & controls (I&C) systems within semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to mission critical facility systems, electrical distribution equipment, instrumentation, controls, preventive maintenance, and facility operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls, facilities operations, or a related technical field and will have the opportunity to develop practical experience working alongside experienced operations and maintenance professionals in a safety-focused, mission critical environment.
Responsibilities

- →Support daily operation and monitoring of electrical and instrumentation & controls (I&C) systems within semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities.
- →Assist with monitoring electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, panelboards, UPS systems, VFDs, and associated power distribution equipment.
- →Participate in routine facility rounds and readings, recording electrical and control system parameters such as voltage, current, power, equipment status, alarms, and system trends.
- →Identify and report abnormal operating conditions, alarms, equipment issues, and other potential reliability concerns.
- →Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance activities on electrical and I&C equipment, including motors, VFDs, control panels, transmitters, sensors, actuators, control valves, and field devices.
- →Support calibration, testing, and verification of instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and other process measurement devices.
- →Assist experienced technicians and engineers with troubleshooting electrical and control system issues, including equipment faults, communication failures, inaccurate instrumentation readings, control loop issues, and electrical distribution problems.
- →Support PLC, SCADA, BMS, and other facility control systems by monitoring alarms, reviewing system trends, and assisting with troubleshooting under supervision.
- →Assist with electrical testing activities, including voltage checks, continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, and other routine electrical diagnostic activities as qualified and authorized.
- →Learn to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, control drawings, loop diagrams, and equipment documentation.
- →Learn and apply proper lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safe work practices, arc flash requirements, and site-specific electrical and I&C safety procedures.
- →Support electrical and controls startup and shutdown activities, ensuring equipment is brought online and offline safely and in a controlled manner.
- →Assist with maintaining accurate CMMS documentation, including work orders, preventive maintenance records, calibration records, equipment history, and maintenance logs.
- →Observe and support vendor activities involving equipment testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, and system upgrades.
- →Participate in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, audits, and Good Catch initiatives, with an emphasis on electrical safety and safe work practices.
- →Develop an understanding of semiconductor facility electrical and I&C systems, equipment interdependencies, and the importance of reliable power and controls to continuous manufacturing operations.
- →Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on electrical reliability, instrumentation accuracy, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.
- →Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
- Understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, or I&C systems preferred.
- Interest in facilities operations, electrical maintenance, instrumentation and controls, or mission critical environments.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop hands-on technical skills in a semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document equipment readings, maintenance activities, and work performed.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures, including LOTO, electrical safe work practices, and site-specific EHS requirements.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, vendors, and operations personnel.
- Previous experience in a mission critical environment is preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering or technical discipline preferred.
- Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable

The pay range shown reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rates the company may offer for this position. The final rate will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
