Come Work With Us

Be Exceptional. Deliver Excellence. Make A Difference.

LimnoTech is a leading environmental engineering and science firm with clients who face water-related problems that are more challenging and costly than ever before. It is our job to help our clients make decisions based on the best available science and real-world constraints.

At LimnoTech, our values are to: honor the science, lead through innovation, act through partnership, commit to the long-term, and pursue big, bold actions. Are you ready to join a team of smart, talented people who are motivated every day to deliver excellence and make a difference for our clients, our partners, and the environment?

LimnoTech is seeking an experienced sediment remediation specialist to lead complex environmental investigations and the design of cleanup strategies for contaminated sediment sites in riverine, lacustrine, estuarine, and marine environments. The selected candidate will be based in one of LimnoTech's primary office locations (Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, Oakdale, or DC). Come work with us!

Responsibilities

The Senior Sediment Remediation Specialist will lead complex environmental investigations and the design of cleanup strategies for contaminated sediment sites in riverine, lacustrine, estuarine, and marine environments. This senior role requires a seasoned professional to provide technical, managerial, regulatory, and business development support to LimnoTech’s existing contaminated sediments practice. Typical job responsibilities include the following, depending on individual ability, skills, and experience:

  • Leading and overseeing technical work for the full lifecycle of sediment projects, which may include developing site characterization, remedial investigation (RI), and feasibility study (FS) plans; overseeing multi-media sampling programs (sediment, water, biota, etc.); data interpretation (geostatistics, fingerprinting, etc.); numerical modeling (hydrodynamic, contaminant fate and transport, etc.); developing conceptual site models; evaluating and implementing remedial alternatives (dredging, capping, MNR, etc.); remedial cost estimating; and translating complex scientific findings into high quality technical written/verbal deliverables. Litigation support and expert witness experience is desirable.
  • Managing projects through the full project management life cycle, including developing scopes of work, managing budgets, leading and mentoring project teams, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams of scientist, engineers, regulators, and responsible parties, delivering high quality deliverables on time and on budget, and client management.
  • Providing regulatory expertise on contaminated sediment projects (e.g.: CERCLA, RCRA, or local state programs), which may include agency negotiations.
  • Leading and participating in marketing and business development activities, which may include tracking and pursuing relevant requests for proposals, developing marketing documents (quals packages, project profiles, web articles, etc.), cultivating and nurturing client and partner relationships, and actively participating at relevant conferences (e.g.: Battelle).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related physical science discipline with 10 or more years of experience in the field. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. is strongly preferred, as the role demands a deep understanding of complex contaminant transport, sediment geochronology, and geochemical partitioning.
  • For engineering applicants, an active Professional Engineer (PE) license is expected; for scientists, a Professional Geologist (PG) or related credentials would be highly valued, demonstrating a commitment to professional standards and the ability to seal technical documents.
  • In addition to formal academic credentials, specialized training in hydrodynamic modeling or statistical data analysis is a significant advantage.
  • Candidates must also have completed the 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with current annual refreshers, ensuring they are qualified to oversee field activities at hazardous waste sites.
  • Continuous education through participation in industry organizations, such as the Battelle Sediment Conference or ITRC technical teams, is encouraged to ensure the firm remains at the forefront of emerging remediation technologies and evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • A demonstrated interest or experience in urban waterfront restoration, engineering with nature, or nature-based solutions is a plus.
  • Must be legally able to work in the U.S. for any employer (proper documentation is required).
