Shipping Supv

Supervises one lead and one office clerk in addition to the hourly employees in the Shipping Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Shipping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess good oral and written communication and management skills. Experience with shipping and receiving operations are also necessary.

Ability to; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals, write routine reports and correspondences, and to speak effectively before groups of management and employees of the organization.

Ability to; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret graphs.

Ability; to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and WMS.
