This position assists legal administrators and attorneys in the Department of Transportation’s Property and Legal Services Offices by providing advanced level paralegal support and requires an understanding of real estate transactions and property descriptions. The primary function of this position is performing advanced complex title research and drafting detailed title reports, for which analytical and computer skills are essential. This position also prepares correspondence, agreements, leases, deeds, and other legal documents. Other responsibilities include assisting engineers and other MaineDOT personnel with the drafting and processing of permits and agreements, the archiving of completed projects, and reviewing legal descriptions, which involves the ability to understand technical survey plans and right of way maps.


A Bachelors Degree and three (3) years of paralegal experience in a law firm, court, or legal services agency -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
