Electronic Component Engineer

The Electronic Component Engineer - EEE Parts for NASA GFE Flight Projects and NASA Programs will:

• Report to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager within a group of 50 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.

• Provide EEE parts support for NASA GFE Flight Projects and Programs.

• Evaluate proposed EEE parts lists for hardware criticality and environmental suitability.

• Report part manufacturers, materials, construction, derating, and reliability findings to the EEE Parts Control Board (PCB).

• Recommend replacement EEE parts when needed.

• Assist in EEE parts failure investigations.

• Review military and industry EEE specifications, standards, and studies for NASA applications.

• Support qualification plans, screening, and Non‑Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR).

• Perform additional assigned duties as needed.

• Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5- 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.

• Experience in interfacing regularly with NASA customers and coordinating team assignments.

• Experience in supporting design reviews, product development teams, and component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for space‑flight applications.

• Experience in EEE activities including procurement specifications, source control drawings (SCDs), and project documentation.

• Experience in preparing and distributing NASA Advisories and GIDEP Alerts.

• Experience with part selection, obsolescence reviews, and electrical part failure investigations.

• Experience in NSPAR development and PCB‑related documentation.

• Experience with RITF performing destructive physical analysis (DPA).

• Experience in sourcing passive and active components.

• Experience in developing part specifications and test procedures for space‑level parts.

• Experience in providing technical assistance and applications support for test labs, part manufacturers, and project teams.

• Experience in reviewing test data to verify part and lot acceptability.

• ​ Knowledge of NASA component specifications, space‑flight hardware processes, and high‑reliability EEE parts used in military/DoD and space systems.

• Knowledge of passive components, microcircuits, semiconductors, hybrids, and discrete device fabrication.

• Experience with reliability theory, accelerated testing, failure analysis, destructive physical analysis (DPA), and EEE parts management plans.

• Strong background in Electronic Engineering, including EEE technologies and manufacturing processes.

• Experience with product development, pre‑production activities, and full product life cycle.

• Sourcing and supply‑chain experience with electronic technologies and part manufacturers.

• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, OneDrive, and Outlook.

• Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
